(The TRUE story - No Goldilocks, this time!)

You probably know about these 3 Bears that dressed like people and lived in a house in the woods. In that story, a girl named Goldilocks came to their house, ate their porridge, broke a chair, and went to sleep in their bed. That story was not true. This is how the story should read.............

The three bears are not Mama, Papa and Baby. They are Mama Bear and her
two cubs.Their house in the woods is a den. The cubs were born in late January while Mama Bear was hibernating. They have been going for a walk since April or May. She taught her cubs how to climb a tree to escape danger. At her signal, the little bears run up the nearest tree. They stay there until she tells them to come down. The cubs are curious and playful.Mama Bear has her paws full keeping up with them, and teaching them to stay out of trouble.
During the spring and summer, the cubs followed Mama and learned what bears like to eat. They tasted many foods, and began to eat the things their mother ate. Spring foods were grasses, new leaves, and flowers. In summer they munched on ripe berries   in berry patches.
Sometimes they turned over a log or rock to find tasty insects and grubs. During the they found nuts and acorns. The cubs grew from the 12 ounces they weighed when they were born to big, 30-pounders.

Now it is time to go to a new den. They will spend the next six months
curled up beside Mama Bear as they sleep the winter away. They
hibernate because there is no food during the winter.

Sleep well, three bears — spring will come again.
